Be 21 years old by the completion of the approximately three year program. Have a high school diploma or GED. Be able to obtain an FAA Physical first class medical.

Be able to obtain a valid passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States. Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Build hours how you want and where you want. Piedmont offers the most flexible cadet program in the industry. Cadets may build hours any way they wish, and are not locked in to a partner school.

Along the way, cadets enjoy industry perks, as well as mentors, events and networking that will help you become a better pilot. Piedmont will pay for your ATP-CTP course and test, along with hotel accommodations and ground transportation during the course.

Cadet programs such as Trans States Airlines, for example, there is not an obligation of employment post-graduation. But the program gives you flight benefits allowing you to fly for free on American and United flights, provides an airline pilot with the company as a mentor, and semi-annual meetings at the airline headquarters. These meetings allow cadets to be flown to the meeting, provided a hotel room and meals, tour company maintenance hangers, talk to pilots, logclass D jet simulator time, and more.

Other airlines such as Envoy have a multiple tiered cadet program. The benefits are similar to other programs. For the last tier, you are offered a conditional employment contract. This means that a student can secure a job a year or two before graduating from school and build a seniority number within the ranks of pilots!

A handful of our partnership airlines offer conditional contracts. These are just two examples of two types of cadet programs. Each cadet program allows you to have airline pilot mentors, flight benefits, and complete portions of employment interviews or all of your required interviews.
